David Stevens – President & CEO:
David has been a doctoral candidate in Princeton University’s Department of Politics, where his research focused on the interaction between technology, the economy, and the adoption of political ideas in Southern Africa. At Princeton he was PhD Affiliate at the Innovations for Successful Societies Program at the Woodrow Wilson School for International and Public Affairs and the Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies. He has been Project Manager at the Journal Donation Project at New School University. He holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters degree in Politics from Princeton University.
Mmakgantsi Mafojane – Director of Research:
Mmakgantsi is a qualified attorney and graduate of NYU Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service where she obtained an MPA in Public and Non-profit Management and Policy. She has worked in Uganda assessing the feasibility of local-level public-private partnerships, before which she practiced as an attorney specializing in professional indemnity and personal injury litigation in South Africa. She has a wide range of experience analyzing policy, assessing risk and developing legal strategy for a broad range of clients. Prior to specializing, she worked in banking and finance, project finance and competition law, where she assisted on several public-private partnership and financing deals. She has also consulted on institutional strengthening and capacity building programs, as well as the legal and policy issues pertaining to economic development in East and Southern Africa. Mmakgantsi holds an MPA from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and an LLB from the University of Pretoria, RSA
